Auto Overload recently reported that Penske would be making their debut in the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship in 2018 starting at the famed Rolex 24 Hour race at Daytona. In recent days, Penske has had some amazing testing results and have decided to enter the DPi class at Petit Le Mans next week.
Penske Racing will enter their ORECA 07-Gibson with Juan Pablo Montoya, Simon Pagenaud and Helio Castroneves behind the wheel of the Penske Racing Acura ARX-05
“We’ve had this race on our radar for some time, but we wanted to wait until we were able to get our drivers some testing at Road Atlanta prior to committing, as it is a very fast track and these cars are very different to drive from an IndyCar,” – President Tim Cindric (Penske Racing)
The team did have a incident while testing at Road Atlanta and ORECA helped the team to get back up and running pretty fast to make the race at Road Atlanta.
The Official debut for Penske will still be at the Daytona 24 for the Acura team.
