The 2018 running of the Rolex 24 hour will be one for the record books as one of the most attended Role 24 for the prototype class with the likes of Team Penske coming back to sportscar racing for the first time in close to 10 years with two entries in the Daytona Prototype International (DPi) class. Also McLaren’s CEO Zak Brown has entered his UK team United Autosport in the DPi class with 2x time Formula 1 World Champion Fernando Alonso behind the wheel of the No. 23 car from United Autosport. This will be Alonso’s first attempt at the Rolex 24.
In the GTLM class the competition will be fierce and BMW looks to mix it up in the professional class with their brand new M8 GTLM entry along with the Ford GT, Porsche 911 RSR and the Chevrolet Corvette C7.R.
