The motorsports dynasty that is known as Penske Racing will embark on a new journey in 2018 with their sportscar department. Penske will field two Acura sponsored prototypes in the DPi class with drivers from all over the motorsports arena.

In The No. 6 car, the pilots that will take on the grueling 24 hour race will be veteran racer Juan Pablo Montoya, Dan Cameron and Indy Car’s Simon Pagenaud will help the team as the third driver for this race. In the No. 7 car, Helio Castroneves and 2017 champion Ricky Taylor will be the main drivers for the 2018 season with help from Graham Rahal during the 24 hour race.

The No. 6 and No. 7 cars will have similar liveries for the race with a difference in black and white in some areas with the infamous DayGlo orange accents around the cars. The DayGlo orange is significant to the Acura Motorsports. From the research, Roger Penske himself actually had a lot of suggestions when it came to the cars designs. In the DPi prototype class manufacturers rules state that the cars must have an aero kit design that takes cues form the manufacturers lines of street cars to add more appeal to the fans and an engine that is not just a class spec engine but a manufacture designed engine.
Team Penske took to the track at the end of the 2017 season at the Petit Le Mans race at Road Atlanta taking 3rd place overall. During the Roar Before the 24 test session Penske showed up with a all black car with DayGlo accents on the aero parts such as the front diveplanes.
