Recently, Auto Overload broke the news of Red Bull Racing and Aston Martin coming together to create their own hypercar the AM-RB 001 with head designer Adrian Newey (F1 Master) at the helm of the project.
This past weekend at the Formula 1 Belgium Grand Prix a Mercedes F1 source says, “It is happening.” What is happening, you may be asking? Mercedes-AMG will be celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2017 and what better way to celebrate than to release one bad hypercar to go out and compete against the other big dogs of McLaren, Aston, Ferrari, Pagani and Koenigsegg.
The project is in the works and will bring together the Mercedes Petronas F1 team and Mercedes-AMG. The rumor mill is running with a possible 3 electric motor configuration and larger F1 v6 inspired engine.
