Sheena Monk, driver of the No. 7 Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo Evo crashed after completing three laps during this weekends Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix. Sheena made contact with the barrier after suffering what looks to be a brake failure while entering the famous Corkscrew Turn 8 at Laguna Seca.
Monk was transported to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center after the incident. She was awake and alert right away.
Turn 8 at Laguna Seca is one of the United States’s most difficult turns to navigate. With a large elevation change the Corkscrew turn over the years has always been a challenge for most drivers even if their brakes are not failing.
Monk’s incident immediately caused a full-course caution which then led to a red flag session.
