This past weekend the Daytona International Speedway was host to the Roar Before the 24 test weekend. The Roar is a testing weekend for the Rolex 24 Hour race that takes place January 28th and 29th.
During the test session, the factory-backed Chevrolet C7.R race car went up in flames coming into Turn 1 during the first outing on Sunday that was due to a faulty fuel injector line, reported by RACER.
Since the C7.R uses a high-pressure direct fuel injection system to feed the engine, any leak can turn the entire engine bay into a coated fuel mess and with high temperatures under the hood the fuel can ignite pretty quick and catch fire extremely fast.
