On Thursday one of the top selling cars at the Sotheby’s auctions was this rare 1956 Ferrari 290MM. The gavel dropped at $28.05 million in New York City.
The Ferrari was originally built for Formula One star, Juan Fangio. Fangio was to compete in this car in the Mille Miglia - a 1,000-mile race through Italy.
The 290MM sets the highest auction price of the year 2015 with its $28.05 million price tag. Previously the record was held by another Ferrari at $38 million. The Ferrari that caught the $38 million dollar prize was a 250 GTO Berlinetta.
